About the Role
SME Careers (a SuperAnnotate company) is looking for a Malay Language Expert to review AI-generated Malay content and create high-quality Malay reference materials for AI training. You will evaluate language quality, reasoning, cultural appropriateness, and linguistic accuracy to improve the reliability of Malay-language AI systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop AI Training Content
- Create prompts and gold-standard Malay responses across general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing
- Produce high-quality reference answers demonstrating best practices in Bahasa Melayu writing
Evaluate AI Outputs
- Review AI-generated content for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, and instruction adherence
- Compare and rank multiple AI responses based on quality and correctness
Ensure Language Quality
- Identify meaning errors, mistranslations, register mismatches, ambiguity, and logical inconsistencies
- Review terminology consistency for product localization, user interfaces, and technical content
- Support regional language variations including Malaysian Malay, Brunei Malay, and diaspora usage contexts
Ensure Model Integrity
- Detect unsafe content, misleading information, factual hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language
- Validate reliability across different use cases and audiences
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Linguistics, Malay Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or related field — or equivalent professional experience
- Native or near-native Malay proficiency; Malaysian Malay focus
- Strong professional English proficiency (minimum C1)
- 3+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, or education
- Deep understanding of Malay grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, and writing style
- Strong attention to detail and cultural awareness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AI data annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation
- Experience reviewing multilingual or localized content
