FREQUENTLY ASKED

Common questions, briefly.

Is the Interview Prep library really free?

Yes. The 53-question library — including category pages, structure tips, and "what interviewers look for" notes — is free with no signup wall. Practicing an answer and getting AI feedback requires a free account so attempts can be saved to your library; the practice itself is free.

How does the AI scoring work?

Your typed answer is scored across five criteria: Structure (does it follow STAR), Specificity (concrete facts vs generalities), Quantification (numbers, time periods, scale), Conciseness (60–90 seconds spoken target), and Remote-Readiness (async-collaboration signals, written-first cues, time-zone clarity). Each criterion returns a 0-to-100 score plus a short written critique, and the AI returns a polished revision using your own facts.

What kinds of questions are in the library?

Six categories: Behavioral (STAR-format classics), Remote-Readiness (async, written-first, time-zone), Leadership & Influence, Technical Communication, Failure & Growth, and the meta "Questions to Ask Back". Every question has its own structure tip and a "what interviewers look for" note, written for remote-first interview loops.

Can I prepare for a specific company’s interview?

The library is company-agnostic by design — the questions are the patterns that show up across remote-first hiring loops. For a specific company, paste their interview questions into the practice page and the AI scores against the same criteria. The companion guide at /tools/interview-prep/guide covers what async-first companies typically screen for.

Will my answers be stored or shared?

Practice attempts are saved to your private library so you can compare iterations on the same question. They are never shared with employers, never used for training models, and you can delete any attempt from your library at any time. The free tier keeps your most recent attempt; Pro keeps the full history.

How is this different from a Mock Interview?

Practice mode is text-first: type, score, iterate. Mock Interview Mode (Pro) is a timed voice-and-text simulation of a full interview loop with multiple questions, voice playback of the questions, and a debrief at the end. Practice is for sharpening one answer; Mock Interview is for rehearsing an entire interview.
