Role Overview
Handshake is hiring a Support Specialist (Contractor) to provide high-quality support to employers, students, and career services users.
This role focuses on resolving technical issues, improving user experience, and ensuring seamless platform operations in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support via email and phone through internal ticketing systems
- Resolve issues related to:
- Platform bugs
- User inquiries
- Feedback and troubleshooting
- Build and troubleshoot reports and workflows
- Collaborate with Customer Support, Success, Product, and Engineering teams
- Maintain high standards for response time and support quality
- Act as both a support specialist and platform consultant
Work Breakdown
- 90%: Ticket handling (20–30 emails/day + ~10 calls/day)
- 5%: Team meetings
- 5%: Administrative tasks
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1–3 years experience in customer or technical support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- High attention to detail
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Zendesk experience
- Background in programming, IT, or data analysis
- Experience in EdTech or higher education environments
- Experience in SaaS or startup customer support roles
- Cross-functional collaboration experience
Work Details
- 40 hours/week
- Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (local time)
- Remote (U.S. only — specific states required)
- 6-month contract with potential extension
