Online Resellers: Feedback on Second-Hand Item Listings
Job description
What We're Researching
We're running a paid study on the decision-making process behind online flipping and second-hand retail. Our goal is to understand how experienced buyers evaluate the trustworthiness and potential profit margin of used items. Your insights will help us identify the key visual and data signals that make a listing viable for resale.
How It Works
You will review eight real second-hand item listings during an independent task. Each listing will include reference data showing what the same item typically resells for on the open market. You will then rate each listing based on how trustworthy it appears and whether you would personally buy it to resell. The entire session is conducted asynchronously online and requires you to provide brief feedback on your choices.
Who This Is For
We are looking for active participants in the second-hand market who regularly buy items to resell for profit. You should have a strong eye for identifying market value, spotting potential scams, and assessing item condition from online listings. We welcome full-time flippers, vintage curators, side-hustle resellers, and online marketplace veterans.
Responsibilities
- Review eight real second-hand marketplace listings
- Compare the asking price against provided historical resale data
- Rate each listing for overall trustworthiness and visual appeal
- Determine whether you would purchase the item for your own resale business
- Explain the reasoning behind your buying or passing decisions
Requirements
- Experience buying second-hand items for the purpose of reselling
- Familiarity with assessing item condition and trustworthiness from online photos
- Comfortable evaluating profit margins based on market reference prices
- Strong ability to articulate your buying decisions clearly
