Job description

This is a fully remote contractor opportunity for experienced German language and localization professionals helping improve advanced AI systems through content evaluation, translation quality assessment, and reasoning analysis.

In this role, you will review AI-generated responses, generate language content, evaluate reasoning quality, and provide expert localization feedback to ensure outputs are:

  • Accurate
  • Logical
  • Culturally appropriate
  • Linguistically natural
  • Consistent with German locale standards

This role is part of SME Careers, an AI Data Services company supporting many of the world’s leading AI labs and foundation-model organizations.

Important: There is no immediate active project attached to this role. Qualified candidates will join the expert network and be prioritized for future German-language AI projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated German-language outputs

  • Assess:

  • Identify:

    • Conceptual errors
    • Methodology mistakes

  • Fact-check localized content including:

  • Write high-quality:

    • Explanations
    • Corrections
    • Model responses
    • Localized content

  • Apply advanced German localization judgment across:

    • Tone
    • Register
    • Cultural nuance
    • Terminology consistency

  • Rate and compare multiple AI responses based on:

    • Correctness
    • Reasoning quality
    • Language quality

  • Use MQM/LQA methodologies to produce consistent quality evaluations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in:

    • Translation
    • Linguistics
    • Localization
    • Communications
    • Related disciplines

  • Native or near-native German proficiency

  • Strong familiarity with German locale conventions

  • Minimum C1 English proficiency

  • 5+ years of professional localization or translation experience

  • Strong understanding of:

    • MQM
    • LQA
    • Translation quality frameworks

  • Experience with:

    • CAT tools
    • Translation memory systems
    • QA workflows
    • Terminology management

  • Strong editorial judgment involving:

    • Tone
    • Inclusivity
    • Register

  • Excellent attention to detail and fact-checking abilities

  • Ability to work independently across remote international workflows
