Job description

Biology Expert (AI Training)

About the Role

What if your years of graduate-level biology training could directly shape how AI understands genetics, biotechnology, and the life sciences? We're looking for Biology Experts — Masters and PhD holders — to solve advanced scientific problems that teach cutting-edge AI models how to reason like a domain expert.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and scientists who want to apply their expertise in a new and impactful way. No AI background needed — just deep biological knowledge and the ability to communicate complex ideas with precision.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced biology problems with real-world scientific relevance
  • Apply your expertise in genetics, biotechnology, bioinformatics, or related fields to design challenging, nuanced problem statements
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to enhance AI model reasoning and scientific accuracy
  • Ensure scientific rigor, clarity, and depth across all deliverables
  • Use Python or R where relevant to support quantitative or bioinformatic tasks

Who You Are

  • Master's or PhD in Biology or a closely related field — Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of at least one core area: genetics, biotechnology, or bioinformatics
  • Comfortable coding in Python or R for research or analytical tasks
  • Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex science clearly and precisely
  • Detail-oriented and methodical, with a commitment to scientific accuracy
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
  • Background in computational biology or experience working with large biological datasets
  • Familiarity with scientific writing, peer review, or research publication
  • Experience bridging experimental and computational biology

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based scientific work
  • Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons about the life sciences
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
