Job description

Data Operations Specialist (AI Training)

About the Role

What if your knack for organizing information and keeping things running smoothly could directly shape the AI systems transforming our world? We're looking for Data Operations Specialists to manage, clean, structure, and quality-check the datasets that fuel cutting-edge AI — ensuring models are trained on data that's accurate, consistent, and ready for impact.

This is structured, meaningful work at the intersection of data and AI. You don't need a technical degree or prior experience in machine learning — just a methodical mind, strong attention to detail, and a drive to get things right.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Clean, organize, and structure raw datasets to ensure they meet quality standards for AI training
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, duplicates, formatting errors, and missing values
  • Follow detailed data processing guidelines and standard operating procedures with precision
  • Perform quality assurance checks across large volumes of data to maintain accuracy and consistency
  • Tag, categorize, and transform data according to project-specific schemas and requirements
  • Monitor data pipelines and flag issues that could affect downstream AI model performance
  • Document processes, track progress, and communicate findings clearly
  • Work independently on task-based assignments at your own pace and on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Exceptionally detail-oriented with a systematic, thorough approach to work
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets, databases, or web-based data tools
  • Able to follow structured instructions carefully and apply them consistently at scale
  • Strong problem-solving instincts — you spot patterns, errors, and anomalies others miss
  • Clear written communicator who can document issues and processes effectively
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and productive when working independently
  • No prior data operations, engineering, or AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data entry, data cleaning, quality assurance, or administrative work
  • Familiarity with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, SQL, or data processing platforms
  • Background in research, analytics, operations, or project coordination
  • Exposure to AI tools, annotation platforms, or data labeling workflows
  • Understanding of basic data concepts such as schemas, taxonomies, or metadata

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
  • Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
  • Build in-demand data skills while contributing to real AI development
  • Contribute to AI systems that shape how technology understands and processes the world's information
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
