Job description

Public Policy Economist (AI Training)

About the Role

AI is increasingly being used to analyze policy, model economic tradeoffs, and generate recommendations that influence real decisions. But it needs expert guidance to get it right.

We're looking for experienced public policy economists to help evaluate and improve AI-generated economics content. Your expertise will directly shape how AI systems reason about regulation, welfare programs, fiscal policy, and applied economics — making a meaningful impact on how this technology develops.

  • Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox)
  • Type: Hourly / Task-based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Review and assess AI-generated policy analysis and applied economics content for accuracy, rigor, and relevance
  • Evaluate economic reasoning across topics including regulation, public welfare, fiscal programs, and market design
  • Identify logical gaps, unsupported conclusions, or misleading framing in AI outputs
  • Provide structured, detailed written feedback to help improve AI clarity and real-world applicability
  • Validate economic scenarios, assumptions, and policy recommendations against established theory and practice
  • Work independently and asynchronously — on your schedule, at your pace

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience working or teaching in public policy, applied economics, or a related field
  • Strong command of policy analysis frameworks and economic tradeoff evaluation
  • Able to critically assess written economic arguments and identify weaknesses
  • Clear, confident written communicator comfortable providing detailed feedback
  • Self-directed and reliable in an asynchronous remote environment

Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree in Economics, Public Policy, or a related discipline
  • Professional background in government agencies, think tanks, or policy research organizations
  • Familiarity with AI systems, content evaluation, or data annotation workflows

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects with top research labs — your expertise helps shape the next generation of AI
  • Fully remote and flexible — design your own schedule and work from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and the satisfaction of doing high-impact work
  • Contribute to meaningful work at the intersection of economics, policy, and artificial intelligence
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
