Biochemist – AI Data Trainer About the Role Your years of rigorous scientific training are more valuable than ever — and not just in the lab.
Biochemist
Job description
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build and train cutting-edge scientific models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to help us get the science right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where you'll challenge, evaluate, and improve advanced AI models on complex biochemistry topics. Your work will have a direct impact on how AI reasons about life science — from protein folding to enzyme kinetics.
No prior AI experience required. If you know biochemistry at a deep level, we'll handle the rest.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Complex Problems — Create advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, metabolic flux analysis, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level AI scientific reasoning
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors in AI responses — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misunderstood stereochemistry, or flawed mechanistic reasoning — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Deep Domain Knowledge: Strong foundations in structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or related areas
- Clear Scientific Communicator: Able to explain complex biological and chemical concepts in precise, well-structured written form
- Detail-Oriented: High precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols
- No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
- Familiarity with computational tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in science writing, peer review, or technical editing
