Role Overview

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to build next-generation text-to-speech (TTS) systems capable of producing natural, expressive, and human-like voices. We are seeking USA-based African American voice actors to record high-quality speech samples for training and evaluating AI voice models used exclusively for an internal customer experience (CX) AI agent.

This is a flexible remote contract opportunity for experienced voice professionals comfortable contributing recordings for AI voice cloning within the specified internal use case.

Key Responsibilities

Record Professional Voice Samples

  • Record high-quality audio across a variety of scripts, including:

    • Conversational
    • Narrative
    • Instructional
    • Customer service scenarios

  • Deliver clear, expressive, and natural speech.

Maintain Recording Quality

  • Maintain consistent:

    • Voice
    • Accent
    • Tone
    • Pronunciation
    • Pacing

  • Follow recording specifications for:

    • Quiet recording environment
    • Microphone setup
    • File formatting
    • Audio quality

Produce Multiple Performances

  • Record multiple takes when requested.
  • Vary emotion, emphasis, and delivery style while preserving natural speech.

Required Qualifications

  • USA-based voice actor with a natural African American English speaking style.

  • Professional experience in one or more of:

    • Voice acting
    • Narration
    • Dubbing
    • Podcasting
    • Broadcasting

  • Access to a professional or near-professional recording setup, including:

    • Quality microphone
    • Quiet recording space
    • Pop filter or equivalent equipment

  • Strong control of:

    • Intonation
    • Diction
    • Emotional delivery
    • Pronunciation

  • Ability to follow scripts precisely while maintaining natural delivery.

  • Willingness to participate in voice cloning for the client's internal CX AI Agent.
