Rust Engineer
Job description
Rust Engineer (AI Training)
About the Role
What if your deep expertise in Rust could directly shape how AI writes and reasons about systems-level code? We're looking for experienced Rust engineers to review, evaluate, and improve AI-generated Rust code — helping ensure the next generation of AI understands memory safety, concurrency, and performance at an expert level.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for senior Rust developers who want meaningful, intellectually engaging work on their own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Review and evaluate AI-generated Rust code for correctness, memory safety, concurrency, and performance
- Design, build, and optimize high-performance systems in Rust to support AI evaluation workflows
- Develop backend services and tooling for large-scale data validation and quality control
- Identify bottlenecks, edge cases, and system-level failure modes — and implement scalable fixes
- Provide structured, expert feedback on AI outputs across a range of systems programming challenges
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- 5+ years of professional experience writing production-grade Rust with a focus on memory safety and concurrency
- Strong background in systems programming and performance optimization
- Able to spot subtle bugs, unsafe patterns, and inefficient designs that AI might miss
- Fluent in English with the ability to explain complex low-level programming concepts clearly and precisely
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field
- Self-motivated and consistent when working independently
Nice to Have
- Experience with distributed systems architecture or developer tooling
- Familiarity with AI code generation tools or evaluation workflows
- Background in embedded systems, OS development, or compiler engineering
- Prior experience in technical writing, code review, or mentoring
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
- Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and generates systems-level code
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
