Meta
Public AI + social-media giant behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, Quest VR, Ray-Ban Meta, and Llama.
What is Meta?
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) is the public company founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg, renamed from Facebook, Inc. to Meta in October 2021 to signal the shift toward an AI- and metaverse-led future. Headquartered at 1 Hacker Way in Menlo Park, California, Meta operates the Family of Apps (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, Messenger) reaching ~4 billion monthly users, plus Reality Labs (Quest VR, Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses — 7M units sold in 2025, Horizon Worlds). Q1 2026 revenue was $56.31B with $26.77B net income; ~98% of revenue still comes from ads on the Family of Apps. Reality Labs generated $402M in Q1 against a $4.03B operating loss as the long-term AR/VR bet continues. Llama remains the dominant open-source AI model family with 1B+ downloads. Meta raised its 2026 capex guidance to $125-145B for AI infrastructure, model development, and the new Superintelligence Labs. In May 2026 the company announced ~8,000 role cuts (about 10% of the 78,865-person global workforce) to fund the AI build-out.
Mission & values
Build the future of human connection and the technology that makes it possible — moving from the apps people use today toward the AI- and AR-mediated experiences of the next decade.
Qualifications

Strong concentration in Menlo Park HQ + major hubs in NYC, Seattle, London, Tel Aviv, Dublin, Singapore, Sao Paulo. Engineering hiring remains highly selective — RTO has largely tightened to 3+ days/week in office near a hub since 2024; select fully-remote roles continue in specialty areas (research scientists, infosec, integrity).
