Ensemble Health Partners
End-to-end revenue cycle management for US health systems: coding, CDI, billing, denials, and patient access. ~11,000 employees, ~$2.7B revenue. Backed by Berkshire Partners and Warburg Pincus.
What is Ensemble Health Partners?
Ensemble Health Partners is one of the largest end-to-end revenue cycle management (RCM) companies serving US hospitals and health systems. Revenue cycle is everything financial that surrounds care delivery: patient access and registration, insurance verification, medical coding, clinical documentation integrity (CDI), charge capture and revenue integrity, claims submission, accounts-receivable follow-up, and denials management and appeals. Health systems increasingly outsource this work because it is specialized, credential-heavy, and directly determines whether they get paid correctly. Ensemble takes it on as a managed service, combining large trained clinical and coding teams with technology and analytics. The company was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, employing roughly 11,000 people with revenue around $2.7B. Judson Ivy is its founder, president, and chief executive officer. In March 2022 Berkshire Partners and Warburg Pincus agreed to make a significant investment in the company; Bon Secours Mercy Health, from whose health-system revenue-cycle operations Ensemble grew, continues as a commercial partner and shareholder, and Golden Gate Capital retained a minority interest. For job seekers, Ensemble is notable because RCM is one of the biggest sources of legitimately remote clinical and coding work in US healthcare: large numbers of its coding, CDI, denials, and AR roles are performed fully remotely.
Mission & values
Improve the financial health of hospitals and health systems by running the revenue cycle better, so providers are paid accurately and can focus their resources on delivering care.
Qualifications
Ensemble hires two broad populations. (1) Clinical, coding, and revenue-cycle roles, which is where the large majority of its US-remote openings sit: inpatient, outpatient, and professional-fee medical coders, coding auditors and quality reviewers, clinical documentation integrity (CDI) specialists, denials and appeals nurses (typically RNs), revenue-integrity and charge-capture analysts, patient access and registration staff, and accounts-receivable / billing follow-up specialists. Credentials matter here: coding roles commonly require CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT; CDI roles often want CCDS or CDIP plus a clinical background; and denials/appeals roles usually require an active RN license. Prior hospital or health-system experience is a strong advantage. (2) Corporate and technology roles: data and analytics, software and automation engineering, finance, operations leadership, client management, HR, and G&A, based around Cincinnati and other hubs with a mix of remote and hybrid. Application flow lives at ensemblehp.com careers. Because the work involves protected health information, HIPAA training, background checks, and credential verification are standard.
