What is Cambridge Spark?

Cambridge Spark is a UK provider of data science, artificial intelligence, and machine-learning apprenticeships and professional training. It works with employers to turn beginners and existing staff into data and AI practitioners through government-recognised apprenticeship standards and custom upskilling programmes. Its core offerings include the Level 4 Data Analyst apprenticeship, the Level 5 AI Leader apprenticeship, and the Level 7 Data Science and Machine Learning Engineer apprenticeship, alongside shorter data-literacy and AI upskilling programmes for companies. Training is delivered virtually through EDUKATE.AI, Cambridge Spark's own learning platform for data science and AI education, which combines coursework with hands-on, automatically-assessed coding exercises. The company was founded by Dr. Raoul-Gabriel Urma, who serves as Founder and Executive Chairman (and has led it as CEO); he holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Cambridge and is a well-known author and educator in the Java and data-science communities. Because UK apprenticeships are funded and regulated through the UK skills system, Cambridge Spark's programmes and much of its hiring are UK-focused, though delivery itself is remote.

Qualifications

Cambridge Spark hires the roles a modern training and apprenticeship provider needs. The most distinctive are data science and AI coaches, skills coaches, and technical trainers, practitioners who teach and mentor apprentices and learners through the programmes, so real data science, ML, or analytics experience plus the ability to teach are the core requirement. Alongside those it hires curriculum and learning designers, software engineers and data scientists (including for the EDUKATE.AI platform), assessment and quality staff (apprenticeship delivery is regulated, so IQA/assessment experience matters), plus sales and partnerships (selling apprenticeship and training programmes to employers), customer success, marketing, and operations.
