What is Alice?

Alice is a Brazilian healthtech company that operates its own primary-care-driven health plan (a health-insurance operator, or "operadora de saude"), sold B2B to companies for their employees. Where a traditional Brazilian health plan is a network and a card, Alice is built around an app-first experience and a dedicated multidisciplinary care team (the "Time de Saude") of doctors, nurses, and health professionals who coordinate a member's care, plus telehealth and at-home exams. The idea is to put primary care and prevention at the center rather than reactive specialist visits. Alice was founded in 2019 in São Paulo by André Florence (CEO), Guilherme Azevedo, and Matheus Moraes, and launched its plan in mid-2020. It has raised roughly $174.8M in total, headlined by a $127M Series C led by SoftBank, which at the time was the largest round raised by a healthtech in Latin America; investors also include Kaszek, ThornTree Capital, Canary, Maya Capital, Endeavor Catalyst, G Squared, StepStone Group, Globo Ventures, and Allen & Company.
