Senior Machine Learning Expert (AI Training) About the Role What if your deep knowledge of machine learning could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems reason, plan, and make decisions?
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help evaluate and improve the scientific reasoning of cutting-edge AI systems. Your expertise will directly shape how AI understands and communicates complex topics — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of AI in life sciences.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI experience required.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Create advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI models
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for scientific accuracy, logical consistency, and safety
- Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify and document failure modes such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misunderstood metabolic logic, then provide structured feedback to drive model improvement
Who You Are
- Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline
- Deep domain knowledge in one or more areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics
- Able to translate highly technical concepts into clear, precise written explanations
- Exceptionally detail-oriented when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, or experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
- No prior AI or data annotation experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing or technical communication
Why Join Us
- Work on high-impact AI projects in partnership with leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — structure your work around your schedule
- Contribute to meaningful work that advances AI accuracy in scientific domains
- Gain firsthand exposure to how large language models are trained and evaluated
- Freelance autonomy with the potential for ongoing contract extension
