Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific reasoning. Your deep domain expertise will directly shape how AI understands and communicates complex biochemical concepts — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of scientific AI.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzymology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model reasoning
- Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or related areas
- Analytical Writer: Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly and concisely in written form
- Detail-Oriented: High precision when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
