Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine some of the world's most advanced AI models. Your deep scientific expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex topics — from protein folding and enzyme kinetics to metabolic flux and molecular genetics.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience is required — just rigorous scientific knowledge and sharp analytical thinking.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry questions spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific accuracy
- Audit AI Outputs — Review AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for correctness and adherence to scientific standards
- Identify Reasoning Errors — Catch logical flaws such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or faulty metabolic logic, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
- Work Asynchronously — Complete tasks independently on your own schedule with no fixed hours
Who You Are
- PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational expertise in areas such as enzymology, structural biology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
- Able to communicate complex scientific concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or research review workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects in partnership with leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and how much you want
- Directly influence how AI understands and communicates advanced science
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
