AI & Data Training Contractor · Part-time
Remote (Global) $35 – $70/hr June 9, 2026

Job description

Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)

About the Role

We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine cutting-edge AI models on advanced scientific topics. Your expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemical concepts — from protein folding to metabolic flux — making a real impact on the future of AI in life sciences.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just deep domain knowledge and the ability to think critically about science.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Advanced Problems — Create challenging biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, enzyme kinetics, and drug-target interactions to stress-test AI reasoning.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems.
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for technical accuracy and scientific integrity.
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or flawed mechanistic reasoning — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.

Who You Are

  • Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
  • Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly in written form
  • Precise and detail-oriented when working with chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental data
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or structured feedback systems
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects in collaboration with world-leading research labs
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule, from anywhere
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • Contribute to meaningful work that advances AI's understanding of life sciences
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
