Senior Machine Learning Expert (AI Training) About the Role What if your deep knowledge of machine learning could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems reason, plan, and make decisions?
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert - AI Content Specialist
Job description
Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and improve the next generation of AI systems. Your deep scientific expertise will directly shape how AI reasons through complex biochemistry — from protein folding and enzyme kinetics to metabolic flux and molecular genetics.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your research knowledge outside the lab, work on genuinely challenging problems, and contribute to cutting-edge AI development — all on your own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry scenarios across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that guide AI toward accurate, high-level scientific reasoning
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors such as incorrect stoichiometry, misunderstood stereochemistry, or flawed reaction mechanisms, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational expertise in areas such as enzymology, structural biology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
- Able to communicate complex biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a remote, async environment
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
Why Join Us
- Work on intellectually stimulating problems at the frontier of AI and life sciences
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and as much as you choose
- Collaborate with a global network of expert scientists and researchers
- Gain firsthand exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and meaningful impact
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
