Alignerr

Data Annotation & Labeling Contractor
Remote (Global) $35 – $70/hr July 14, 2026

Job description

Biochemist – AI Data Trainer

About the Role

What if your deep expertise in biochemistry could directly shape how the world's most advanced AI systems understand science?

Alignerr partners with leading AI research labs to build and refine cutting-edge models — and we need PhD-level Biochemists to help us get the science right. You'll challenge AI reasoning on complex topics like protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics, uncovering gaps and building the gold-standard content that makes these models more accurate and trustworthy.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No AI background needed — just deep biochemistry knowledge and a sharp analytical mind.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry questions across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance.
  • Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the scientific standard for AI reasoning.
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative reasoning for technical accuracy, scientific validity, and safety.
  • Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzymatic principles — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance on life science tasks.

Who You Are

  • Advanced Degree: PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
  • Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of the following: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics.
  • Clear Communicator: Able to translate highly technical biological and chemical concepts into precise, well-structured written explanations.
  • Detail-Oriented: High level of precision when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, reaction mechanisms, and experimental protocols.
  • No prior AI experience required — your scientific expertise is what matters.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, evaluation, or quality assurance workflows.
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST.

Why Join Us

  • Work on high-impact AI projects alongside world-class research teams.
  • Fully remote and asynchronous — work on your own schedule, from anywhere.
  • Freelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating work.
  • Gain firsthand exposure to how large language models are trained and evaluated.
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension.
