Biochemist

Alignerr

AI & Data Training Contractor
Remote (Global) $35 – $70/hr June 10, 2026

Job description

Biochemist — AI Data Trainer

About the Role

What if your deep knowledge of protein folding, enzyme kinetics, and metabolic pathways could directly shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to train and refine cutting-edge models — and we need expert biochemists to help us get the science right.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for PhD-level scientists who want to apply their expertise beyond the bench. No prior AI experience required — your scientific knowledge is what matters.

  • Organization: Alignerr
  • Type: Hourly Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Design Challenging Problems — Create advanced biochemistry questions and scenarios spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously test AI performance
  • Build Ground-Truth Solutions — Author precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
  • Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, safety, and scientific validity
  • Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify flaws in AI logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry, misapplied stereochemistry, or flawed mechanistic reasoning — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance

Who You Are

  • Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related discipline
  • Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or pharmacology
  • Able to communicate complex biochemical and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of precision when reviewing chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous, remote environment
  • No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or quality assurance workflows
  • Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
  • Background in science writing, peer review, or technical editing

Why Join Us

  • Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs
  • Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, wherever you are
  • Gain meaningful exposure to how large language models are built and refined
  • Contribute to work that makes AI more scientifically accurate and trustworthy
  • Freelance autonomy with the potential for ongoing contract extension
  • Collaborate with a global network of expert scientists and researchers
