Biochemist
Job description
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
Your deep expertise in biochemistry is exactly what the next generation of AI needs. At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research labs to build and refine cutting-edge models — and we need PhD-level Biochemists to help us get the science right.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your knowledge of protein folding, metabolic flux, enzyme kinetics, and molecular genetics directly shapes how AI reasons about life science. No prior AI experience required — just rigorous scientific thinking and a passion for accuracy.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry challenges across domains like nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously stress-test AI performance.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical solutions and "golden responses" that serve as scientific benchmarks for AI reasoning.
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and quantitative analyses for scientific accuracy, safety, and adherence to established standards.
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors in AI responses — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biochemical principles — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
- PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (completed or in final stages)
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, or bioinformatics
- Able to communicate highly technical biochemical and chemical concepts clearly in written form
- High attention to detail when reviewing complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable working independently
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
