Remote QA leadership opportunity for experienced biology professionals to oversee AI training quality, review biological reasoning and life sciences content, evaluate experimental logic and scientific accuracy, ensure biosafety awareness, and support contributors across biology AI projects.
Biochemist
Job description
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
We're looking for PhD-level Biochemists to help train and refine the next generation of AI systems. Your scientific expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex biochemistry — from protein folding and enzyme kinetics to metabolic flux and molecular genetics. This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep domain knowledge to one of the most transformative technologies of our time, all from the comfort of your own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Advanced Problems — Craft challenging biochemistry problems spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, drug-target interactions, and more to rigorously stress-test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as benchmarks for high-level scientific reasoning in AI systems
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy and adherence to scientific standards
- Identify and Correct Reasoning Errors — Pinpoint logical failures — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied biochemical principles — and deliver structured feedback to improve AI reasoning
Who You Are
- Holds a PhD (completed or in final stages) in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or proteomics
- Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly and precisely in writing
- Detail-oriented with a sharp eye for errors in complex chemical equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental logic
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently and asynchronously
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in writing scientific documentation, technical reports, or academic publications
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects in partnership with leading AI research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, anywhere in the world
- Make a meaningful impact on how AI handles scientific reasoning in the life sciences
- Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global expert community
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
