Remote QA leadership opportunity for experienced biology professionals to oversee AI training quality, review biological reasoning and life sciences content, evaluate experimental logic and scientific accuracy, ensure biosafety awareness, and support contributors across biology AI projects.
Biochemist
Job description
Biochemist – AI Data Trainer
About the Role
What if your expertise in protein folding, enzyme kinetics, or metabolic flux could help shape the next generation of AI? At Alignerr, we partner with the world's leading AI research teams to build smarter, more scientifically rigorous models — and we need PhD-level biochemists to make it happen.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role where your deep domain knowledge becomes the benchmark that AI strives to meet.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Expert-Level Problems — Craft advanced biochemistry challenges spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, structural biology, and drug-target interactions to rigorously stress-test AI performance
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI reasoning in life sciences
- Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical derivations for scientific accuracy, safety, and adherence to established standards
- Refine AI Reasoning — Identify and document failures in AI logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry, or misapplied enzyme mechanisms — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
- PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field (completed or in final stages)
- Strong foundational expertise in one or more of: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, molecular genetics, or bioinformatics
- Able to communicate highly technical biological and chemical concepts clearly in written form
- Exceptionally detail-oriented when reviewing complex equations, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an async environment
- No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systems
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in scientific writing, peer review, or technical editing
