OpenClaw Agent Builder (Software Developers)

Outlier is seeking experienced software developers and systems engineers to help train and evaluate next-generation autonomous AI agents such as OpenClaw.

This freelance remote opportunity focuses on improving large language model (LLM) agents that can coordinate complex, multi-step workflows in realistic software and systems environments.

Contributors will help teach AI systems how to:

• Design workflows
• Coordinate tasks
• Optimize execution paths
• Operate reliably in real-world environments

Key Responsibilities

AI Evaluation & Reliability

• Develop objective and verifiable evaluation rubrics
• Validate whether AI systems meet strict functional requirements
• Review execution logs and agent trajectories

System Optimization

• Refactor code and improve execution paths
• Help systems achieve reliable “Golden Path” execution behavior
• Improve robustness across multi-step workflows

Security & Edge-Case Testing

• Test systems for:
  • Unauthorized access escalation
  • Improper data exposure
  • Privacy leaks
  • Indirect prompt injections
  • Edge-case failures

Workflow & Integration Design

• Build and evaluate realistic coordination workflows

• Work with:

  • APIs
  • Databases
  • Tool integrations
  • Persistent memory systems

• Help model real-world orchestration and automation tasks

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in:

  • Backend engineering
  • AI automation
  • Systems integration
  • Production software development

• Strong proficiency in at least two languages such as:

  • Python
  • JavaScript
  • Go
  • Java

• Experience with:

  • SQL databases
  • Multi-service architectures
  • Live production environments
  • Multi-turn system interactions

• Ability to build modular systems with separated services for:

  • Data parsing
  • Logic processing
  • Reporting

• Strong attention to detail and technical communication skills

Compensation

• Core project work pays up to:
