Thyme Care
Value-based cancer care navigation: remote oncology nurse navigators and social workers. Founded 2020, Nashville. ~$400M raised at a $2B+ valuation. Rates published, ~$39-46/hr, US licensure required.
What is Thyme Care?
Thyme Care is a value-based oncology company providing cancer care navigation, combining human support with technology. Its nurse navigators, social workers, and care partners guide people through a cancer diagnosis, handling triage, symptom management, education, transitions of care, and psychosocial support, working alongside oncologists, health plans, and health systems under value-based contracts rather than fee-for-service billing. The company was founded in 2020, is headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, and employs around 400 people. It reports that its services are available to more than 10.5 million people across all 50 US states, that it has supported over 270,000 people, and that it manages more than $7 billion in oncology spend. Its leadership changed recently: co-founder Robin Shah stepped down as chief executive in July 2026 to become Executive Chairman of Thyme Companies, a platform for further oncology ventures, and Brad Diephuis, previously President and Chief Operating Officer, took over as CEO. Co-founder Bobby Green serves as Chief Medical Officer. On funding, two recent rounds are easily confused. In September 2025 it raised a $97 million Series D backed by CVS Health Ventures, Humana, Morgan Health, Texas Oncology and Memorial Hermann alongside existing investors including a16z Bio + Health, Foresite Capital, Town Hall Ventures and AlleyCorp, which brought its total to $275 million, pushed its valuation past $1 billion, and came as the company reported reaching profitability. Then in September 2026 it raised a further $125 million at a valuation above $2 billion, taking the total raised to roughly $400 million. Sources citing $275 million raised or a valuation above $1 billion are describing the 2025 position rather than the current one.
Mission & values
Give everyone facing cancer a navigator in their corner, and align the economics of oncology around better outcomes rather than volume of treatment.
Qualifications
Thyme Care is one of the better remote employers on this board for licensed clinicians, and unusually it publishes rates on its listings. Observed remote roles include Oncology Nurse Navigator at $39.90 per hour, Oncology Transitions of Care Nurse at $45.67 per hour, Oncology Nurse Team Lead at around $104,000, and Social Work Team Lead at around $105,000. The navigator role involves acting as a clinical resource for members and their families, delivering triage, support, and education throughout the cancer journey by phone, email, and video, and conducting comprehensive clinical assessments under the guidance of a nurse team lead. Shifts are typically 8:30 to 5 or 11:30 to 8 Eastern time, with flexibility requested for occasional Saturday coverage, so this is structured shift work rather than fully self-scheduled. Beyond clinical roles the company hires the technology, product, data, actuarial, operations, and commercial staff a value-based care organisation needs, given it manages oncology spend under risk-bearing contracts. Two constraints are firm. These are licensed positions, so a current and unencumbered US registered nurse licence, or the equivalent social work credential, is a hard requirement, frequently with oncology experience expected. And between US licensure and the Eastern-time shift pattern, this is remote within the United States rather than globally remote. Listings appear on Remotive, AlleyCorp's job board, Indeed, and Glassdoor as well as the company's own careers page. Note that one aggregator lists a complex navigator role at $196,000 to $230,000, which sits far above the rest of the band for this category and should be treated with caution rather than taken as typical.
