What is Populii?
Populii is a crowdsourcing platform launched by Tech Mahindra in December 2023, built on the foundation of DataMime (acquired by Tech Mahindra in 2020). The platform connects a global on-demand community of talent with AI-driven projects, innovating at the intersection of human intelligence and artificial intelligence. Core services span data annotation (labeling images, text, audio, and video), content evaluation and rating, ad relevance assessments, data collection, user studies, and general microtasks. Populii acquires data in over 80 languages including images, videos, documents, and speech to create high-quality training datasets for machine learning models. The platform emphasizes robust data security, adhering to HIPAA, PCI/DSS, FedRAMP, CJIS, and GDPR standards with ISO 27001:2013 compliance. Contributors work as freelancers with flexible schedules, choosing gigs that fit their availability. Payments are processed monthly through integrated systems like Airtm.

For specialized projects (like the STEM-focused "Eris Project"), a STEM background and native-level proficiency in specific languages may be required, along with 2-5 years of rating experience being a plus. Applicants typically must pass project assessments with quality scores of 90% or above after reviewing training materials. Specific projects may require agreeing to Populii's terms, passing assessments, and demonstrating native language proficiency for tasks in the contributor's country of residence. No formal degree is universally required, but domain expertise enhances candidacy for specialized projects.
