What is DataAnnotation.tech?

DataAnnotation.tech is a remote-first AI training platform founded in 2021 and headquartered in New York City. The platform connects freelance contributors with data annotation projects that help train and improve AI systems. Tasks range from standard data tagging and labeling to complex projects requiring subject matter expertise in coding, STEM, multilingual content, and professional fields like law, finance, and medicine. Contributors work as independent contractors with fully flexible schedules, choosing their own hours and projects from a 24/7 available task pool. DataAnnotation.tech is believed to be operated by SurgeAI and emphasizes high-quality data production for advancing artificial intelligence. The platform currently accepts workers from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia, with plans to expand to additional regions.

Life at DataAnnotation.tech

Qualifications

DataAnnotation.tech uses a tiered qualification system based on project type. For generalist work, a bachelor's degree or equivalent real-world experience is required, along with strong writing and critical thinking skills — no coding experience is needed. Multilingual projects require native fluency in languages beyond English. Coding projects require programming experience in languages such as Python, JavaScript, HTML, C++, C#, or SQL. STEM projects typically require advanced degrees (Master's or PhD) in mathematics, physics, biology, or chemistry, or a bachelor's degree with over 10 years of professional experience. Professional projects require credentials in fields like law, finance, or medicine. All applicants must complete a Starter Assessment to evaluate their aptitude before accessing projects.
