What is Crimson Education?
Crimson Education is a New Zealand-founded EdTech unicorn helping students win admission to top-30 US and UK universities (Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, MIT, Yale, and the wider Ivy+). The company was founded in 2013 by Jamie Beaton (CEO), Fangzhou Jiang, and Sharndre Kushor. Jamie was born in Auckland, admitted to 25 top universities at 17, and raised the initial $1M seed from Tiger cubs Julian Robertson and Chase Coleman while an undergraduate at Harvard. Total funding stands at roughly $114M with participation from Tiger Global Management, Movac, and HEAL Partners; the most recent round valued Crimson at $1B. Headquartered in Auckland with Jamie leading global operations from New York, the company runs a services model built on an unusually credentialed staff bench (former Ivy League admissions officers, Rhodes scholars, and subject-area PhDs) plus Crimson Global Academy, an accredited online high school. In February 2026, former New Zealand Prime Minister John Key was appointed chairman, and Sundeep Jain, former CPO at Uber and VP of product at Google, joined the board.
Mission & values
Give ambitious students anywhere in the world personalized mentorship, tutoring, and strategy so they can win admission to the top-30 US and UK universities that shape global careers.
Qualifications
Crimson hires across three broad tracks. (1) Academic and subject tutors: high-achievers with elite university credentials (Ivy League, Oxbridge, top state schools) who teach subjects, standardized tests (SAT, ACT, IB, A-Level, AP), and application essays. Most tutor roles are contractor, US-remote friendly, with hourly rates that scale with credential rarity. (2) Admissions strategists and mentors: former admissions officers and successful alumni of target universities. Corporate roles: product, engineering, growth, operations, and sales across the Auckland, Sydney, London, and New York hubs. Application flow lives at jobs.crimsoneducation.org. Corporate roles are hub-anchored with hybrid schedules; tutor and mentor roles are typically fully remote with country-of-residence requirements based on client demographics.
