PostHog
Open-source product analytics, session replay, feature flags and more. Remote-first, founded 2020, $1.4B valuation after a $75M Series E (Sept 2025).
What is PostHog?
PostHog builds an all-in-one developer platform for understanding and improving products: product analytics, session replay, feature flags, A/B testing, surveys, error tracking, a data warehouse and AI-powered tools, in one product that engineers can self-host or use in the cloud. Much of it is open source, and it sells mainly to engineers and product teams rather than through a traditional sales-led model. PostHog was founded in 2020 by James Hawkins, its CEO, and Tim Glaser, its CTO, and went through Y Combinator. It raised a $70 million Series D in June 2025 at a $920 million valuation, led by Stripe, and then a $75 million Series E announced on 29 September 2025 at a $1.4 billion valuation, led by Peak XV Partners. Its annual recurring revenue was reported at about $50 million in October 2025. The company has around 200 to 225 people and is remote-first: of its 10 openings on 17 October 2026, nine were remote (globally, in EMEA, or in the US), one was hybrid in the UK and one was on site in San Francisco. It is well known for writing publicly about how it runs, including its handbook.
Mission & values
Help engineers build successful products by giving them every tool they need to understand and improve them, in one place.
Qualifications
PostHog hires mostly engineers, and it expects engineers to think like product owners. Its open roles on 17 October 2026 included Product Engineer, AI Research Engineer (hybrid, UK), Site Reliability Engineer (US Pacific time, San Francisco), Security Engineer (remote, EMEA), Product Manager (for ex-founders or ex-product engineers), Technical Customer Success Managers for EMEA and the Americas, and a Finance Manager for revenue accounting (remote, US). For engineering roles, expect to own features end to end: talking to users, deciding what to build, shipping it and measuring whether it worked, usually in a small team with little process. Strong experience with the stack and with shipping product quickly matters more than titles. Customer-facing roles are technical: PostHog's customers are developers, so you need to be comfortable reading code and debugging an integration. Because the company is remote-first and writes things down, clear written communication and working independently across time zones are essential. Read the posting for location limits, since some roles are tied to a region or time zone.
