What is OpenTrain?

OpenTrain AI is a global freelance marketplace founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, connecting businesses with vetted human data experts for AI training and data annotation projects. The platform functions as a talent network — not a labeling tool or BPO firm — facilitating finding, hiring, and managing talent for LLM training, agent evaluation, and structured data labeling. OpenTrain is tool-agnostic, meaning experts work within clients' existing annotation software (CVAT, Labelbox, etc.). The platform aggregates AI training and data labeling jobs from over 20 different platforms into a single searchable feed. For larger projects, OpenTrain offers managed services where in-house experts handle scoping, staffing, labeling, QA, and delivery. Contributors from over 110 countries can create profiles with skills, domains, languages, and rates, with AI-assisted profile building from resumes.

Qualifications

OpenTrain employs a rigorous vetting process including AI resume screening, skills tests, and live AI interviews tailored to specific project requirements. Domain expertise in fields such as medicine, law, linguistics, STEM, or business is commonly required. Technical proficiency with annotation tools like CVAT and Labelbox is valued. For LLM Chatbot Evaluation roles, strong academic credentials (MA, JD, MD, PhD) and prior LLM experience for prompt writing, response crafting, and quality assurance are preferred. Nearly all work is fully remote with flexible hours. The platform assists individuals in building profiles automatically from their resumes and matches them with suitable projects. Some roles offer on-the-job training.
