What is Joom?

Joom is a group of e-commerce and fintech companies. Its best-known product is the Joom Marketplace, a mobile-first shopping app and website where consumers buy affordable products, fashion, electronics, home goods, beauty, and accessories, largely sourced from suppliers in Asia and Europe; the app has passed 400 million installs worldwide. Around that consumer marketplace the group has built several other businesses: Joom Logistics, which handles cross-border fulfillment and shipping for sellers; JoomPro, a B2B platform for wholesale sourcing and importing from manufacturers; and Joompay, a European fintech app for everyday payments and money management. Joom was founded in June 2016 by Ilya Shirokov, Yuri Ivanov, and Ilya Rubin. Ilya Shirokov is CEO and previously served as president of Odnoklassniki, one of the largest social networks in its region, where he grew revenue and profitability substantially. The group moved its headquarters from Riga, Latvia, to Lisbon, Portugal at the end of 2022, and operates additional offices in China, Hong Kong, Brazil, the United States, and Germany. It is a privately held, venture-backed group employing several hundred people across those locations.

Mission & values

Give people around the world access to affordable products and the logistics and fintech rails that make cross-border commerce work, through one connected group of e-commerce services.

Qualifications

Joom hires across its group. On the technology side: software engineering (backend, mobile, frontend, data, ML and recommendations, platform, infrastructure), data science and analytics, product, and design, since the marketplace, logistics, B2B, and fintech products are all software-driven. On the operations and commercial side: cross-border logistics and supply-chain operations, category and merchant management, seller support, marketplace trust and safety, fintech operations and compliance (for Joompay), plus marketing, finance, legal, and people. Application flow lives at about.joom.com/careers. The group is headquartered in Lisbon with offices in China, Hong Kong, Brazil, the US, and Germany, and it hires internationally; some roles are remote or hybrid, especially in technology, while others are anchored to a specific office (for example logistics roles near sourcing hubs in Asia, or fintech roles under European regulation). English is the working language for much of the group; check each posting for location and remote eligibility.
