What is Binance?

Binance is the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, offering spot and derivatives trading, a crypto wallet, staking and other earn products, an NFT marketplace, and educational resources through Binance Academy and Binance Research, to a global user base reported above 200 million people. It was founded in 2017 by Changpeng Zhao, widely known as "CZ." Binance's history includes a significant regulatory chapter worth knowing plainly: in 2023, the company reached a $4.3 billion settlement with the US Department of Justice over failures to implement effective anti-money-laundering controls, and CZ pleaded guilty, stepped down as CEO, and later served a prison sentence in the United States. Since then, Binance has built out more formal corporate governance, appointing its first board of directors in April 2024, and is led by CEO Richard Teng, with Yi He appointed co-CEO in 2025. For years Binance operated without a single official headquarters; in December 2025 it chose Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, as its base, securing financial licenses within the Abu Dhabi Global Market. The company employs roughly 5,000 people globally, including about 1,000 in the UAE, with a long-standing culture of remote and distributed work across many countries.

Mission & values

Increase the freedom of money for people around the world by building the infrastructure for a more inclusive, decentralized financial system.

Qualifications

Binance hires across the functions of a very large, global financial-technology and exchange company. On the technical side: software engineering (backend, frontend, mobile, and the high-throughput trading and matching-engine systems a major exchange requires), security engineering (a critical function given the value it secures), data engineering and analytics, and product management and design. Because it operates as a regulated or regulation-seeking financial business in many jurisdictions, it hires heavily in compliance, anti-money-laundering (AML) and financial-crime, risk, and legal, alongside customer support and operations at global scale. It also hires business development and partnerships, marketing, research and education (Binance Academy/Research), finance, and people functions. Application flow lives at binance.com/en/careers. Binance has a long history of remote and distributed hiring across many countries, so many roles can be genuinely remote, though eligible countries, work authorization, and any office expectations vary by posting and by role, compliance and some regulated roles in particular may require specific locations or clearances. Given the company's regulatory history, compliance and legal roles carry real weight and rigor. Check each posting for details.
