Product Designer (Contract)

Summary:

We are seeking a talented and driven Product Designer to join a team focused on crafting next-generation content experiences within a leading browser and operating system platform. In this role, you will design AI-first news and interest feed experiences, contribute to personalized content surfaces, and help reimagine the product to resonate with a younger, digitally native audience. You will own end-to-end design for specific features — from early concept exploration through final engineering handoff — working across core consumer surfaces including a browser new tab page, a widgets panel, and an AI-powered discovery experience. This is a fully remote, full-time engagement with a strong chance of extension through fiscal year 2027.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design expressive, visually compelling features for users of an AI-powered news and interest feed
• Own end-to-end design for specific features such as video experiences and feed personalization, from concept through ship
• Craft clear, engaging visual stories that communicate ideas effectively to stakeholders
• Partner with product managers, engineers, and content strategists to define and deliver product features through regular working sessions
• Create designs in Figma and validate ideas through interactive prototypes, including lightweight coded prototypes when needed
• Work effectively within a complex design system to deliver cohesive, scalable designs
• Apply a sharp eye for detail to ensure pixel-perfect execution and high-quality fit and finish across releases
• Collaborate with motion designers to integrate animation and micro-interactions that enhance usability and delight
• Present work in weekly design reviews, incorporate feedback, and deliver finalized specs for engineering handoff
• Contribute to design critiques and articulate rationale behind visual decisions to build alignment across stakeholders
• Stay ahead of emerging design trends, AI capabilities, and consumer content behaviors to inform innovative solutions

Requirements:

• 5–7 years of professional product design experience with a strong visual design background
• 5–7 years of experience designing digital products using Figma, including component systems, interaction flows, and prototyping
• 1+ year of experience with vibe coding interactive prototypes and familiarity with front-end technologies
• 1+ year of experience designing consumer-facing products with a demonstrated understanding of engagement and usability at scale
• Demonstrated experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams and delivering work independently from concept to production
• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, fine arts, product design, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience is valued
• A portfolio showcasing excellence in visual design for consumer-facing digital products is required — submissions without a portfolio will not be considered
• Portfolio should demonstrate experimentation, technical exploration, and beautiful, clean, easy-to-operate design work
• Strong background in visual design, including typography, color, layout, and iconography
• Proficiency in Figma, including component systems, interaction flows, and prototyping
• Familiarity with front-end technologies and comfort with vibe coding interactive prototypes
• Deep understanding of engagement and usability principles for consumer-facing products at scale
• Ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams and deliver independently from concept to production
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing creativity with deadlines
• Bonus: Motion design skills using After Effects, Principle, Lottie, or similar tools with an understanding of UX animation principles
• Bonus: Experience with generative AI tools such as Figma Make, MidJourney, DALL·E, Runway, or similar

Additional Details:

• Location: Remote
• Duration: 5 months
• Pay Range*: $46.50 - $52.50 per hour
• Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
• Job Status: Non-Exempt
