Job Summary
As a Wolof Language Expert, you will use your linguistic expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through high-quality translation, localization, writing, editing, and language evaluation tasks.
Your work will contribute directly to improving how AI systems understand, generate, and reason in Wolof and English. No previous AI experience is required; deep language expertise and cultural knowledge are the primary qualifications.
This role is ideal for professional translators, linguists, writers, editors, language teachers, localization specialists, and native Wolof speakers with strong written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
Translation & Localization
- Translate content between Wolof and English
- Localize content for cultural and linguistic appropriateness
- Preserve meaning, tone, context, and intent
- Adapt content for different audiences and use cases
Editing & Proofreading
- Review Wolof-language materials for grammar, spelling, clarity, fluency, consistency, and cultural appropriateness
- Improve readability and overall quality of translated and original content
Content Creation
- Write original content in Wolof
- Follow project-specific style guides and requirements
- Produce natural, fluent, and culturally relevant language
AI Language Evaluation
- Provide linguistic feedback on AI-generated outputs
- Identify language errors and inconsistencies
- Help improve language datasets and model performance
Quality Assurance
- Review completed work for accuracy and consistency
- Maintain linguistic standards across projects
- Verify adherence to terminology and style requirements
Required Qualifications
- Native or near-native proficiency in Wolof
- Strong proficiency in English
- Deep understanding of Wolof grammar, idiomatic expressions, regional variations, cultural nuances
- Demonstrated experience in translation, localization, editing, proofreading, writing, and language review
- Excellent written communication, strong attention to detail, cultural awareness
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with linguistic data annotation or previous AI training
- Background in Linguistics, Translation Studies, Applied Linguistics, or Language Education
- Experience working with international or cross-functional teams
