Role Overview

Mercor is seeking DNA Nanotechnology Experts to help advance frontier AI systems by strengthening their scientific reasoning capabilities. In this fully remote contract role, you will create challenging scientific problems, review expert-authored content, and evaluate AI-generated solutions in the field of structural DNA nanotechnology.

This opportunity is ideal for researchers with deep expertise in DNA origami, nucleic-acid nanostructures, molecular self-assembly, and sequence design who are passionate about applying their scientific knowledge to improve next-generation AI models.

Key Responsibilities

Develop Scientific Problems

  • Design expert-level problems covering DNA nanotechnology concepts.
  • Create challenging tasks involving DNA origami, nucleic-acid nanostructures, strand-displacement systems, and sequence or structure design.
  • Produce scientifically accurate content suitable for AI evaluation.

Review Scientific Content

  • Review problems created by other experts for clarity, accuracy, and appropriate difficulty.
  • Verify scientific correctness and ensure reliable ground-truth solutions.
  • Recommend improvements where necessary.

Evaluate AI Responses

  • Assess AI-generated solutions for scientific accuracy and reasoning quality.
  • Compare multiple model outputs against expert expectations.
  • Deliver Accept, Revise, or Reject decisions with detailed written justifications.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or equivalent research experience in one of the following:

- Chemistry

- Bioengineering

- Biophysics

- Related field focused on DNA or nucleic-acid nanotechnology

  • Hands-on experience with one or more of:

- DNA origami

- Structural nucleic-acid design

- Molecular self-assembly

  • Familiarity with scientific tools such as:

- caDNAno

- oxDNA

- NUPACK

  • Strong scientific writing skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience reviewing scientific research or technical publications.
  • Experience evaluating complex scientific problems.
  • Interest in AI model evaluation and scientific reasoning.

Compensation

  • $75 per hour
