Role Overview

Mercor is hiring Nepali Music Experts to support a frontier generative music AI lab. In this role, you will apply your musical expertise and Nepali language proficiency to help evaluate, transcribe, and improve AI-generated music. The work requires strong listening skills, accurate melody transcription, and the ability to recognize musical structure while correctly interpreting Nepali lyrics.

This is a remote, part-time contract opportunity ideal for musicians, composers, music educators, audio engineers, and other music professionals with formal training or industry experience.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze Music by Ear

  • Transcribe melodies with accurate pitch and rhythm.
  • Identify:
    • Musical key
    • Tempo
    • Time signature
  • Evaluate musical accuracy and structure.

Evaluate AI-Generated Music

  • Review AI-generated music outputs.
  • Assess melody quality, musical correctness, and overall performance.
  • Help improve next-generation generative music models.

Process Nepali Lyrics

  • Accurately transcribe sung Nepali lyrics.
  • Interpret accents, pronunciation, and less-clear vocal delivery.
  • Ensure linguistic accuracy across music evaluations.

Required Qualifications

  • Formal musical training or professional music experience.
  • Degree in Music or several years of experience as:
    • Musician
    • Composer
    • Music Transcriber
    • Audio Engineer
    • Music Teacher
  • Excellent ear for music, including:
    • Melody transcription
    • Pitch recognition
    • Rhythm recognition
    • Key identification
    • Tempo recognition
    • Time signature identification
  • Strong fluency in Nepali.

  • Experience working with music transcription, music analysis, or AI music projects.

Compensation
