Role Overview

A leading AI laboratory is recruiting accomplished mathematicians to help develop the next generation of AI systems for scientific and mathematical reasoning.

This opportunity is intended for research-level mathematicians whose work extends beyond textbook mathematics into active research across pure and applied mathematics. Contributors will help build and evaluate frontier AI models capable of advanced mathematical reasoning, proof construction, theorem verification, and research-level problem solving.

This position is offered through Cincinnatus LLC and places successful candidates within a leading AI laboratory as part of its extended workforce.

Key Responsibilities

Review Mathematical Research

  • Review mathematics research papers for:
    • Correctness
    • Novelty
    • Mathematical rigor

Create Advanced Mathematics Tasks

  • Author and review challenging mathematics problems for training and evaluating frontier AI models.
  • Cover research-level topics rather than standard textbook exercises.

Evaluate AI Mathematical Reasoning

Assess AI-generated outputs involving:

  • Proof construction
  • Proof verification
  • Mathematical problem solving
  • Formalization
  • Conjecture exploration

Identify Model Failures

Detect subtle mathematical errors such as:

  • Unjustified proof steps
  • Incorrect assumptions
  • Misapplied hypotheses
  • Unsupported lemmas
  • Plausible but invalid proofs

Collaborate with Experts

  • Work closely with senior mathematicians and AI researchers.
  • Help improve the quality of mathematical datasets and evaluation standards.
