Job description
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research lab to improve frontier AI systems' accounting and financial reporting capabilities. As an Accounting Expert, you will evaluate and compare AI-generated responses to complex accounting, auditing, tax, and financial reporting problems. Your expertise will help ensure AI reasoning aligns with professional accounting standards and real-world financial practice.
Key Responsibilities
AI Response Evaluation
- Compare two AI-generated responses to the same accounting prompt.
- Determine which response demonstrates stronger accounting knowledge, reasoning, and standards compliance.
- Evaluate outputs using professional accounting principles and best practices.
Technical Review
- Review provided case materials and each model's reasoning process.
- Assess responses for:
- Technical correctness
- GAAP and/or IFRS compliance
- Financial reporting accuracy
- Audit and tax reasoning
- Financial statement analysis
- Identify accounting errors, incorrect assumptions, unsupported conclusions, or standards violations.
Feedback & Documentation
- Provide clear, evidence-based explanations supporting evaluation decisions.
- Write structured feedback to improve future AI model performance.
- Participate in onboarding sessions and specialty calibration exercises to ensure evaluation consistency.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in one or more of:
- Public Accounting
- Corporate Accounting
- Audit
- Tax
- Accounting Advisory
- Corporate Finance
- CPA (or equivalent certification) and/or a degree in:
- Accounting
- Finance
- Related field
- Strong knowledge of:
- GAAP
- IFRS
- Financial Statement Analysis
- Excellent written communication and strong attention to detail.
Compensation
- $85 per hour
