Job description
Mercor is recruiting UK-based Accounting Specialists with expertise in ASC 606 revenue recognition to support a frontier AI research project. This role is designed for experienced accounting professionals who can analyze complex revenue recognition scenarios, interpret accounting standards, and evaluate technical accounting decisions to help train next-generation AI systems.
You'll leverage your expertise in technical accounting, audit, advisory, financial reporting, and ASC 606 to create, review, and evaluate realistic accounting scenarios and AI-generated analyses.
Key Responsibilities
Create & Evaluate Accounting Scenarios
- Develop and review complex revenue recognition and technical accounting case studies.
- Evaluate AI-generated accounting analyses and conclusions.
- Assess contract terms and accounting treatments under ASC 606.
Apply Technical Accounting Expertise
- Review customer contracts and revenue recognition policies.
- Identify performance obligations.
- Analyze transaction price allocation and variable consideration.
- Evaluate principal vs. agent considerations.
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition timing.
- Review financial reporting implications and technical accounting conclusions.
Support AI Training
- Produce high-quality accounting training data.
- Help establish evaluation standards for technical accounting and revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with researchers to improve AI reasoning in accounting and financial reporting.
Ideal Qualifications
- Based in the United Kingdom with the right to work in the UK.
- Strong professional background in accounting, audit, advisory, or financial reporting.
- Hands-on experience applying ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Experience at a leading accounting or advisory firm is highly preferred, including:
