Voice Actor: CX Agent Voice Cloning (Southern USA)

Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to build next-generation text-to-speech (TTS) systems capable of producing natural, expressive, and human-like voices.

The company is seeking USA-based voice actors with authentic Southern American English accents (including Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi) to contribute high-quality voice recordings for training and evaluating advanced speech models.

This opportunity is ideal for voice actors, narrators, broadcasters, podcasters, and other voice professionals capable of delivering consistent, expressive, and high-quality audio across a wide variety of scripts.

Important Notice

Your voice recordings will be used exclusively for the client's internal Customer Experience (CX) AI Agent.

Recordings will not be sold, licensed, or reused for any other product, dataset, or commercial purpose outside this specific project.

Applicants must be comfortable with their voice being cloned for this AI use case.

Key Responsibilities

Voice Recording

• Record high-quality voice samples across various script types, including:
  • Conversational
  • Narrative
  • Instructional
  • Customer service scenarios

Performance & Delivery

• Deliver speech that is:

  • Clear
  • Natural
  • Expressive
  • Consistent

• Demonstrate strong control over:

  • Tone
  • Pronunciation

  • Emotional delivery

Recording Consistency

• Maintain consistency in:
  • Voice quality
  • Southern American accent
  • Delivery style
  • Pronunciation

Across multiple recording sessions.

Technical Compliance

• Follow recording guidelines related to:
  • Recording environment
  • Microphone setup
  • Audio quality
  • File formatting

Multiple Takes

• Produce alternative takes when requested
• Vary:
  • Emotion
  • Emphasis
  • Style
  • Energy level

Requirements

Language & Accent Requirements

• Native Southern American English speaker
• Currently based in the United States
• Authentic Southern U.S. accent (e.g. Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Louisiana, Alabama, or Mississippi)

Professional Experience

Experience in one or more of the following:

• Voice Acting
• Dubbing
• Narration
• Podcasting
• Broadcasting

Recording Setup

Access to a professional or near-professional recording setup, including:

• Quality microphone
• Quiet recording environment
• Pop filter
• Appropriate recording equipment

Voice Skills

• Strong diction
• Clear pronunciation
• Emotional range
• Intonation control
• Script interpretation skills

Availability

• 5–10 hours per week
• Short-term engagement lasting approximately 1–2 weeks

Voice Cloning Consent

Applicants must be comfortable with voice cloning for the client's internal CX AI Agent.

Contract & Payment Terms

• Independent contractor engagement
• Fully remote work
• Flexible schedule
• Weekly payments through Stripe or Wise
• Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on business needs and performance
