Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to improve next-generation AI systems used in managed care contracting, payment variance analysis, and healthcare revenue optimization.
The organization is seeking experienced Underpayment and Managed Care Contract Specialists to evaluate and improve AI tools designed to identify payment variances, detect contract non-compliance, recover underpayments, and optimize payer reimbursement performance.
Responsibilities
Underpayment Recovery & Analysis
- Identify, analyze, and recover underpayments across commercial payers, Medicare Advantage plans, and Medicaid managed care organizations
- Investigate payment variances and reimbursement discrepancies
AI Evaluation & Quality Review
- Evaluate AI-generated underpayment detection alerts, contract compliance findings, payment variance analyses, and recovery recommendations
- Assess outputs for accuracy, contract compliance, financial impact, and operational relevance
- Annotate AI outputs and provide structured feedback for AI training datasets
Contract Interpretation
- Review and interpret payer contract provisions including fee schedules, carve-outs, outlier payments, and reimbursement methodologies
- Validate reimbursement accuracy against contractual obligations
Contract Modeling & Reconciliation
- Perform contract modeling, payment reconciliation, variance analysis, and revenue impact assessments
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Underpayment Recovery, Payment Variance Analysis, or Managed Care Contracting
- Deep knowledge of DRG-based, per diem, and fee schedule reimbursement methodologies
- Advanced Excel proficiency and financial analysis capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- CHFP, CRCR, or Managed Care Contracting certification
- Experience with Experian Health, Recondo, or contract management platforms
