Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to improve next-generation AI systems used in medical billing, claims management, and healthcare revenue cycle operations.
The organization is seeking experienced Medical Billing and Claims Managers to evaluate and improve AI tools designed to automate billing workflows, improve claim accuracy, increase first-pass claim acceptance rates, and enhance overall revenue cycle performance.
Responsibilities
Medical Billing Operations
- Oversee end-to-end medical billing and claims submission workflows
- Support professional fee and/or facility billing operations
- Ensure accurate and timely claim generation and submission
AI Evaluation & Quality Review
- Evaluate AI-generated billing outputs, claim edits, coding validations, and revenue cycle recommendations
- Assess outputs for accuracy, compliance, billing correctness, and payer-specific requirements
- Annotate AI outputs and provide structured feedback to support AI training datasets
Claims Management
- Manage electronic claim generation, clearinghouse workflows, payer submission processes, and billing edits
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with CMS billing requirements, HIPAA 837 transaction standards, Medicare/Medicaid billing rules, and commercial payer requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Medical Billing, Claims Management, or Revenue Cycle Operations
- Minimum 2 years in a management role
- Deep knowledge of professional fee billing, CMS-1500 claims, UB-04 claims, 837P/837I transactions, and HIPAA 837 standards
- Experience with Epic, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, or equivalent billing platforms
Preferred Qualifications
- CPC, CCS, CHFP, or CRCR certification
- Experience with automated billing systems or multi-specialty physician groups
