Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to improve next-generation AI systems used in clinical documentation, coding accuracy, and healthcare revenue integrity.
The organization is seeking experienced Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) leaders to evaluate and improve AI tools designed to enhance documentation quality, physician query workflows, coding accuracy, DRG optimization, and risk adjustment initiatives.
Responsibilities
Clinical Documentation Integrity Leadership
- Lead CDI programs across inpatient and/or outpatient settings
- Oversee concurrent review workflows, retrospective review processes, and documentation improvement initiatives
Clinical Documentation Review
- Review medical records and clinical documentation
- Ensure accurate capture of diagnoses, procedures, Severity of Illness (SOI), and Risk of Mortality (ROM)
AI Evaluation & Quality Review
- Evaluate AI-generated CDI recommendations, physician queries, coding suggestions, and documentation improvement opportunities
- Assess outputs for clinical accuracy, compliance, coding integrity, and documentation quality
- Provide structured annotations and feedback for AI training datasets
Physician Query Management
- Develop and manage physician query programs in compliance with AHIMA and ACDIS query standards
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Clinical Documentation Integrity or Clinical Documentation Improvement
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of MS-DRG methodology, CC/MCC hierarchies, and ICD-10-CM/PCS coding
- Experience with 3M CDI solutions, Nuance CDI platforms, or Optum360
Preferred Qualifications
- CCDS (Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist) or CDIP certification
- RN, RHIA, or CCS credential
- Experience with HCC risk adjustment or outpatient CDI programs
