Role Overview
Mercor is partnering with a leading AI research laboratory to improve next-generation AI systems used in healthcare revenue cycle management.
The organization is seeking experienced Insurance Verification and Eligibility & Benefits Managers to evaluate and improve AI tools that automate insurance verification, eligibility determination, benefits investigation, and front-end revenue cycle operations.
Responsibilities
Insurance Verification & Eligibility Management
- Oversee insurance verification and eligibility determination processes
- Manage benefits investigation workflows across commercial payers, Medicare, Medicaid, and managed care plans
- Verify insurance coverage through payer portals, clearinghouses, and EDI 270/271 eligibility transactions
AI Evaluation & Quality Review
- Review AI-generated eligibility verification outputs
- Evaluate outputs for accuracy, completeness, and payer compliance
- Annotate results and provide structured feedback for AI training datasets
Workflow & Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain SOPs for eligibility and benefits verification
- Identify process gaps and recommend improvements to reduce eligibility-related claim denials
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, CMS guidelines, and payer-specific requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Insurance Verification, Eligibility & Benefits Management, or Front-End Revenue Cycle Operations
- Minimum 2 years in a management role
- Expert knowledge of EDI 270/271 transactions and real-time eligibility systems
- Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, Availity, Change Healthcare, or comparable platforms
