Job description

Mercor is seeking experienced Insurance Experts to help train next-generation AI systems by contributing real-world insurance expertise. In this fully remote hourly contract role, you will create realistic insurance scenarios, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and provide structured feedback that improves AI performance across a wide range of insurance disciplines.

This opportunity is open to professionals from underwriting, claims, actuarial science, risk management, brokerage, compliance, reinsurance, policy administration, and related insurance specialties.

Key Responsibilities

Design Insurance Training Tasks

  • Create realistic insurance scenarios based on real-world professional workflows.
  • Develop structured tasks involving:
    • Underwriting decisions
    • Risk assessments
    • Claims adjudication
    • Policy interpretation
    • Coverage analysis
    • Actuarial pricing and reserving
    • Regulatory compliance reviews

Evaluate AI Outputs

  • Review AI-generated insurance responses for:

    • Accuracy
    • Professional judgment
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Industry best practices
  • Compare multiple AI responses and identify the strongest solution.

Improve AI Performance

  • Create structured examples that reflect how insurance professionals solve complex problems.
  • Provide detailed written feedback to improve AI reasoning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate asynchronously with research teams throughout the project.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following:

    • Underwriting
    • Claims
    • Actuarial
    • Risk Management
    • Brokerage
    • Compliance
    • Reinsurance
    • Insurance Advisory
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Experience using common insurance systems such as:

    • Policy administration platforms
    • Claims management systems
    • Rating platforms
    • Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional insurance credentials such as:

    • CPCU
    • ARM
    • AINS
    • CLU
    • AIC
    • ACAS
    • FCAS
    • ASA
    • FSA
    • State Adjuster License
    • State Broker License
  • Experience across multiple insurance specialties.

Compensation

  • $90–$110 per hour
  • Weekly payments via Stripe or Wise
