About the Team
We are a platform engineering team responsible for integrating and extending College Board’s ERP (Workday) and LMS ecosystems through AWS-based cloud solutions. Our work focuses on building reusable, scalable integration patterns and services that connect enterprise SaaS platforms with internal systems. We work at the intersection of enterprise SaaS platforms and modern cloud architecture—designing, building, and supporting APIs, event-driven integrations, and platform capabilities that enable critical business operations. Our engineers collaborate closely with product, security, and business partners to deliver reliable solutions that scale with organizational needs.
Operating in a DevOps and Agile environment, we design and manage event-driven architectures, APIs, and data flows that support Finance, HR, and learning systems. We prioritize reliability, security, and observability, ensuring our platforms are resilient and production-ready.
Our team brings together diverse engineering skill sets across cloud infrastructure, integrations, and application development. We partner closely with product and business teams to translate complex requirements into well-architected solutions that deliver measurable impact.
About Opportunity
As a Senior Workday Engineer on our ERP & LMS platform engineering team, you will design, build, and operate integrations and cloud-based solutions that power critical Finance, HR, and learning systems. You will work across Workday and other SaaS platforms, leveraging AWS services to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient solutions.
You will own the full lifecycle of integrations and platform capabilities—from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support. A key focus of this role is ensuring solutions are built with strong observability, enabling proactive detection, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of system performance and reliability.
You will partner closely with product, engineering, and business teams to define clear integration patterns, APIs, and system boundaries. You will help ensure that all solutions meet enterprise standards for security, compliance, and data integrity, while also improving operational readiness through automation, monitoring, and well-defined recovery processes.
As a senior engineer, you will contribute to a culture of engineering excellence by mentoring others, providing thoughtful code and design feedback, and promoting best practices in cloud architecture, DevOps, and integration design. You will play a key role in strengthening the resilience of our platforms by designing systems that gracefully handle failures, scale effectively, and maintain high availability.
This role is ideal for someone who is both a strong builder and an operator—someone who not only develops high-quality solutions, but also ensures they are secure, observable, and reliable in production.
In this role, you will:
Design & Implementation (60%)
Design and implement cloud-based integrations and platform solutions across ERP (Workday), LMS, and enterprise systems using AWS and modern integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture).
Build high-quality, scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions using reusable, component-based design patterns that promote interoperability and code reuse.
Embed observability into solutions through monitoring, logging, and alerting to enable proactive issue detection, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Understand new product capabilities and decompose the implementation into specific functional changes for verification.
Build and deploy solutions using Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices, ensuring efficient and consistent delivery.
Team Operations & Success (20%)
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to team deliverables in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Conduct peer reviews of code and design artifacts, maintaining high engineering standards and promoting best practices.
Assist in the resolution of production issues.
Adhere to development standards and security policies and procedures.
Adopt the continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practice of rapidly implementing, testing, and delivering high-quality code based on the team’s DevOps model.
Continuously develop the skills required to work as part of the Agile team in a poly-skilled development environment.
Software Solutioning & Design (20%)
Design for resilience by incorporating fault tolerance, error handling, and recovery processes to ensure reliable, highly available systems.
Collaborate with product owners, architects, and stakeholders to translate business needs into well-defined technical solutions and deliverables.
Work closely with Lead Engineer and Data Leads evaluating feature requests, providing level-of-effort estimates and contribute to sprint planning.
Conduct and participate in peer code and solution design reviews.
About you, you have:
4+ years of Workday integration experience (Studio and Eclipse).
Advanced Workday knowledge in the following areas: Financials, HCM, Reporting, Studio, Orchestrate, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), integration systems, Document Transformation, and security.
Experience building and supporting API-based and file-based integrations with internal and external platforms, including external benefits providers.
Proven experience designing and implementing cloud-based integrations and platform solutions across ERP (Workday), LMS, and enterprise systems using AWS and modern integration patterns (APIs, event-driven architecture).
Experience embedding observability into solutions through monitoring, logging, and alerting to enable proactive issue detection, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Experience designing resilience — incorporating fault tolerance, error handling, and recovery processes to ensure reliable, highly available systems.
Strong problem-solving skills, working collaboratively with team members to identify and resolve issues, and partnering with Product Owners to prioritize backlog.
Proven ability to pitch new ideas and implement improved systems and processes, delivering excellent results.
Effective communicator and team lead, able to provide actionable feedback, mentor team members, and participate in interviews to evaluate engineering talent.
Experience adhering to enterprise security, compliance, and development standards, ensuring audit-ready and secure solutions.
Comfort quickly building a deep understanding of Finance, HR, and LMS business processes in a poly-skilled Agile environment.
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in the field of computer science or related field (preferred).
Knowledge and use case experience with Workday Prism (nice to have).
Professional Workday training and/or certifications (nice to have).
Experience with React, NodeJS, Java, and AWS services (Lambda, SNS/SQS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, RDS, DynamoDB, AWS CLI) in a cloud-based environment (nice to have).
All roles at College Board require:
A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work
Authorization to work in the United States for any employer
Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies, with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.
Clear and concise communication skills, written and verbal
A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving timely, respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.
A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.
A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success.
