Role Title: Statistics Expert (PhD)
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Statistics Experts (PhD) to contribute their advanced subject-matter expertise to a customer's AI training initiative. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.
Scope of Work
- Produce authoritative, accurate, and well-explained responses to advanced statistics queries aimed at improving AI model performance, emphasizing clarity and depth over score-based metrics.
- Review and evaluate statistics data, queries, and solutions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current best practices.
- Develop comprehensive explanations and justifications across both foundational and specialized statistics concepts, tailored for a range of technical backgrounds.
- Collaborate with annotation leads and project managers to refine project requirements and maintain high standards for response quality.
- Create exemplary "golden responses" that serve as benchmarks for future AI model outputs, ensuring reliability and consistency in training datasets.
- Document the context and rationale behind answers to enhance model interpretability and facilitate future annotation efforts.
- Participate in remote discussions or workshops to clarify objectives and maintain alignment within the contributor community.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Statistics or a closely related field with demonstrated expertise in both core and advanced statistical topics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to convey complex statistical concepts with precision.
- Experience creating, reviewing, or publishing scientific, technical, or educational materials in statistics (e.g., research articles, curricula, industry reports, peer reviews).
- Familiarity across various sub-disciplines of statistics, such as probability theory, statistical inference, Bayesian methods, biostatistics, experimental design, or computational statistics.
- Strong attention to analytical detail and a commitment to methodological rigor.
- Experience with MySQL and advanced data analysis techniques.
- Background in AI, data annotation, or digital content development projects is a plus, though not required.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in remote and cross-functional project environments.
