As a Technical Problem Solver / Puzzle Solver, you will apply your expertise in problem-solving, algorithms, and competitive programming to help train next-generation AI systems.
In this remote contractor role, you will create reinforcement learning environments that evaluate an AI model's ability to solve complex technical and algorithmic challenges. You will design original programming problems, develop reference solutions, build comprehensive test suites, and implement robust output checkers that validate multiple correct solutions. No prior AI experience is required—your technical expertise is what matters.
Key Responsibilities
Design Technical Challenges
- Create original competitive programming and technical puzzle problems that do not exist on current online judge platforms.
- Develop high-quality reference solutions.
- Build comprehensive and reliable test suites.
Develop Output Checkers
- Design and implement C++ checkers capable of validating problems with multiple correct outputs.
- Ensure robust validation across a wide range of edge cases.
Evaluate Programming Solutions
- Review and validate participant submissions against complex technical problem statements.
- Analyze correctness across multiple valid solution paths.
Collaborate with Engineering Teams
- Work with the customer team to clarify requirements and refine problem specifications.
- Suggest improvements to problem statements, test cases, and validation logic.
Maintain Technical Documentation
- Document checker implementations and validation logic.
- Clearly communicate assumptions, technical details, and edge cases.
Follow Best Practices
- Stay current with competitive programming standards.
- Apply industry best practices for problem design, testing, and validation.
Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in competitive programming and technical problem solving.
- Advanced proficiency in C++.
- Excellent understanding of algorithms, data structures, and coding problem analysis.
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Commitment to producing well-tested, maintainable, high-quality code.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a:
- Competitive programming problem setter
- Problem tester
- Checker developer
- Experience contributing to platforms such as Codeforces or similar competitive programming platforms.
Compensation
- $45–$65 per hour (output-based compensation)
- Payment is based on completed tasks that meet project specifications.
- Minimum weekly submission requirements apply.
Work Arrangement

Hiring Timeline
